Certified payroll for Knowify
Knowify tracks prevailing wage labor by classification and can print a federal WH-347 (also covered in our WH-347 guide). It has no path to the California DIR eCPR, and its own fix, a payroll switch to eBacon, asks you to hand payroll processing to a second system. We take your Knowify export as it is and finish both filings.
What Knowify gives you
Knowify is job costing and project management software built for trade contractors: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, painting, concrete, excavating. Its prevailing wage add-on lets you set up labor rate templates by craft and project, track field time against the correct wage classification, and roll fringe benefits and labor burden into the job cost. From that same tracked time, Knowify can generate a WH-347 certified payroll report directly. For a sub already running estimates and job costing through Knowify, that is a real head start on the federal filing.
The California gap
Knowify's core prevailing wage pages, its prevailing wage software page and its WH-347 material, describe Davis-Bacon and federal WH-347 output only, with no mention of California, DIR, the eCPR, or Form A-1-131. Knowify's eBacon integration page does name California and the DIR, but only for exporting a report through eBacon's separate payroll platform, not for filing the eCPR XML itself. There is no built-in output matching what the DIR's public works portal takes in place of the iForm, and under Labor Code section 1771.4, a contractor or subcontractor on a non-exempt California public works job must furnish its certified payroll records directly to the Labor Commissioner electronically, at least once every 30 days while work continues. A WH-347 printed from Knowify does not satisfy that duty on its own, and neither does handing it to the general contractor.
In September 2025, Knowify partnered with eBacon to close part of that gap. The partnership connects Knowify's labor rate templates and job costing to eBacon's payroll engine, which processes prevailing wage payroll, administers fringe benefit trusts, and generates certified reporting. That is a genuine integration, but it is also a different product: eBacon is its own payroll processor, with its own subscription, running your actual pay runs instead of whatever you use today. If you already run payroll through QuickBooks, a PEO, or in house, and just want Knowify's tracked hours turned into a filed California eCPR, adding a second full payroll platform is a heavier lift than the filing itself.
DAS 140 and DAS 142, from the same export
Most California public works jobs also carry the DAS 140 and DAS 142 apprenticeship forms, and neither runs on tracked labor hours. The DAS 140 notice is due within 10 days of the date you sign the prime contract or subcontract, or by your first day with workers on site if that comes sooner, under 8 CCR 230. The DAS 142 dispatch request needs at least 72 hours notice, not counting weekends or holidays, before an apprentice is needed on the job, under 8 CCR 230.1. Knowify's labor rate templates have no field for either one, since both run on contract-award and dispatch-timing data, not on hours worked. We prepare both forms from the same project details you already send us at setup.
How our mapping works with Knowify
Export the certified payroll report, labor detail, or timesheet report Knowify already generates for your prevailing wage jobs. During the one time $995 setup we map that export: classifications to the project's wage determination, fringe and labor burden entries to the buckets the filings require, workers to projects. After that, each pay period: the same export in, a finished WH-347 with the Statement of Compliance staged for your signature, and a validated DIR eCPR XML back, rates checked against the published determination, a person reviewing every file. When a project needs the DAS 140 or DAS 142, we prepare those from your project details too. Knowify keeps doing what it already does well. We never touch your payroll processing or your money.
Pricing, published
$995 one time setup. $249 per month flat for crews up to 25 workers, every project, every filing period, both forms, plus DAS 140 and DAS 142 when a project calls for them. Crews of 26 to 50: $449 per month. First filing free, done on your own live project before you pay anything. Between public works jobs, pause and pay nothing until the next award.
