LCPtracker eSignature password: how to reset it, and the tests for who may sign the payroll

The password steps come from LCPtracker's help site, as read on November 4, 2026. The signing rules come from Labor Code section 1776, 8 CCR 16401 and the Caltrans CEM-2503 Statement of Compliance (REV 12/2025).

The short answer

Reset your LCPtracker eSignature password under Set Up, then Edit/Reset eSignature. It is separate from your login password, so resetting one does not change the other. LCPtracker's help sets no title or authority test for the signer. Caltrans's Statement of Compliance form, the CEM-2503, has the signer swear to paying or supervising payment of the workers, but the on-screen version in LCPtracker may read differently.

  • LCPtracker's help says your login password and your eSignature password are two different items, and you create or edit the eSignature under Set Up, Edit/Reset eSignature (Add/Edit eSignature article).
  • Certification is finished when you enter your eSignature in step 2 of the wizard and click Save, and if you forget it you edit it on the Set Up tab and certify again (Contractor Quick Start Guide).
  • Step 1 of certification asks for the name and title of the person certifying, and step 2 shows the Statement of Compliance (3. Certification article).
  • Labor Code 1776(a) requires a written declaration under penalty of perjury that the payroll record is true and correct and that the employer complied, and it does not name who signs.
  • The printed Caltrans CEM-2503 (REV 12/2025) has the signer certify that they pay or supervise payment to the contractor's employees (CEM-2503 form), but Caltrans's LCPtracker checklist (revised 1/2026) refers to an "electronic Statement of Compliance" and does not name the form (pre-job checklist).
  • Caltrans's Labor Compliance Manual lists missing signatures among the reasons a payroll record is inadequate (chapter 16).

Your eSignature password is not your login password

Each contractor user has two passwords. The login password signs you in. The eSignature password signs the payrolls you certify and is required to save a document in the eDocuments tab. LCPtracker says you may set them to the same value, but they stay separate items: changing one does not change the other.

The Login Process article: click "Forgot your Password? Reset here," enter your User ID and email, and follow the emailed link.Set Up, then Edit/Reset eSignature (Add/Edit eSignature)

On Fortify accounts, a recovery code (10 are made at onboarding) can be entered in place of the two-step code, after the password (Fortify FAQ). It does not replace the password: use Reset Here.Edit it on the Set Up tab, then certify again (Quick Start Guide)

Fortify is LCPtracker's sign-in system with two-step verification (Fortify FAQ). Its reset article covers users who finished Fortify onboarding and sends legacy users to "the existing legacy password reset process." If you cannot tell which applies, ask LCPtracker Support at (714) 669-0052 option 4.

Searching for an LCPtracker PIN?

LCPtracker's help calls the payroll signature an eSignature password. The PINs in its help include a security step in OnSite, an interview app contractors cannot use (OnSite FAQ), and device PIN options for approving a passkey sign-in (passkey article). Neither signs a payroll.

Set or reset your eSignature password

  1. Sign in to LCPtracker. If you forgot your login password, reset that first, using the table above.
  2. Open the Set Up tab. Choose Edit/Reset eSignature.
  3. Return to the Certification tab. Start the certification again.

Where the eSignature fits when you certify

Certification is a two-step wizard (3. Certification article, Quick Start Guide).

  1. Clear the notices. Records must be free of notices before you can certify, and missing or expired required eDocuments can also block you.
  2. Step 1. Choose the project, payroll type and week-ending date, and enter the certifier's name and title.
  3. Step 2. Read the Statement of Compliance and mark how you pay fringes: 4a to a plan, 4b in cash, 4c for exceptions.
  4. Enter your eSignature password and click Save. The CPR opens in another window if your pop-up blocker is off.

The Administrator's settings determine how the Statement of Compliance looks on your screen, so check that every statement on it is true before you sign. For a no-work week, see our no-work payroll guide.

Who is allowed to sign the payroll?

These signer rules are California and Caltrans sources. On another agency's LCPtracker job, look to that agency's own form and contact.

LCPtracker's help has all contractor users sign payrolls electronically but does not say who may certify. Its roles article says a Limited Contractor sees every tab for entering and certifying payroll. The signer tests come from the law and from Caltrans's form.

Which form applies on an LCPtracker job is unclear. Caltrans's LCPtracker pre-job checklist (revised 1/2026) refers to an "electronic Statement of Compliance" and does not name the CEM-2503. Caltrans's State Contract Prejob Checklist (revised 07/2025), whose header has no "LCPtracker Project" line, lists the CEM-2503 as due with each weekly payroll, and the Labor Compliance Manual names it as the Statement of Compliance. Read the CEM-2503 below as Caltrans's printed wording. The LCPtracker screen may differ.

SourceWhat it says about the signer
Labor Code 1776(a)A written declaration, under penalty of perjury, that the payroll record is true and correct and that the employer complied with sections 1771, 1811 and 1815. It does not name who signs.
8 CCR 16000"Certified" means the affirmation, under penalty of perjury, of a person "with the authority to so affirm." It is written for affirming that records are originals or full, true and correct copies.
8 CCR 16401(b)The signer states a position "with the authority to act for and on behalf of" the contractor. It covers records requested under section 1776 and does not mention LCPtracker. The rule adds that a public entity may require a more strict or more extensive form of certification.
CEM-2503 (REV 12/2025)The printed form has the signer certify under penalty of perjury that "I pay or supervise payment to employees of the contractor referenced on this form" on the named contract.
29 CFR 5.5(a)(3)(ii)(C) and (E), current on November 3, 2026Where federal Davis-Bacon rules apply, the contractor or subcontractor signs, or their agent who pays or supervises payment of the workers. The signature must be handwritten or a legally valid electronic signature.

Why the signature should stay with someone who has authority

  • It is a sworn statement. The CEM-2503 certifies, under penalty of perjury, that every worker was paid the full weekly wages earned, with no rebates and no deductions other than permissible ones, and that the signer pays or supervises payment of those employees.
  • Keep the name and password together. Full Contractors add users, and each new user creates their own eSignature password (Add/Edit Additional Users). The Quick Start Guide has you enter your own name as the certifier. Using your own name with your own password is our recommendation, not an LCPtracker rule. See our Caltrans LCPtracker setup guide.
  • A missing signature can cost money. A missing signature makes a record inadequate, because Caltrans's manual (16-3-2) lists signatures among the required elements. Caltrans withholds from progress payments for inadequate records. On progress-estimate contracts, if no adequate record is in by the 15th day of the month for the period ending on or before the 1st, the 2025 Standard Specifications (7-1.02K(3)) say Caltrans withholds up to 10 percent of the monthly progress estimate, exclusive of mobilization, and not more than $10,000 or less than $1,000. Your contract follows the edition of the specifications it was bid under. The withhold is taken from the prime contractor's progress payment: Caltrans's LCPtracker pre-job checklist says the prime's failure to submit the required reports or documents through LCPtracker results in up to a 10 percent progress payment withhold. The manual (16-5) says "10 percent," without "up to." Minor B, emergency and service contracts are paid by invoice. The manual (16-5-2) mostly describes holding the whole invoice until the delinquent or inadequate payrolls arrive, and calls a partial withhold rare. See our delinquent notice guide.

Can a bookkeeper or assistant sign?

None of the sources above names a job title that may sign. They state two tests from different sources. Authority to act for the contractor comes from 8 CCR 16401(b). Paying or supervising payment of the workers comes from the Caltrans CEM-2503 and, where Davis-Bacon rules apply, from 29 CFR 5.5, which names the contractor's or subcontractor's agent who pays or supervises payment. 8 CCR 16400(d)(2)(A) has a public entity warn that a certifier who is not the contractor is considered its agent, but it covers requests for certified copies of payroll records under section 1776, not LCPtracker. For a bookkeeper's signature on your job, ask the Labor Compliance contact on your checklist in writing. Our guide on who signs certified payroll in California covers the rest.

Who to call

  • Password or screen problems: LCPtracker Support at (714) 669-0052 option 4, Support@LCPtracker.com or live chat, per Login Process.
  • A payroll locked because the permitted days to edit have passed: the Administrator in charge, listed under Projects, Show Info. LCPtracker says it cannot give permission to edit (3. Certification article).
  • A rejection: read the Administrator Notice first. LCPtracker says Support can help when the notice explains the rejection, and the Show Info person is the contact when it gives no reason (referral guide). See rejected payroll in LCPtracker.
  • Who may sign on your job: the labor compliance contact for your contract (on a Caltrans job, it is on the pre-job checklist).

Where WellStanding fits

Questions

Is my LCPtracker eSignature the same as my login password?
No. LCPtracker treats them as two items even if you set them to the same value, and changing one does not change the other (eSignature article).
I forgot my eSignature password. What do I do?
Go to the Set Up tab, edit your eSignature, then return to the Certification tab and certify again, per the Quick Start Guide. Resetting your login password does not change it.
Does LCPtracker limit signing to an officer?
The eSignature, certification and roles articles set no title test. 8 CCR 16401(b), which governs certification of records requested under section 1776, uses the words "authority to act for and on behalf of" the contractor. The CEM-2503 has the signer certify that they pay or supervise payment of the workers, but the LCPtracker screen may read differently. Ask your Labor Compliance contact.
Why can't I reach the screen where I enter the eSignature?
LCPtracker says payroll records must be free of notices before you certify, and its certification article also points to missing or expired required eDocuments.
